Top 10 Fun Festive Activities In Cornwall

The holidays are coming and we're excited!

There's plenty of festivities and events happening all over Cornwall this season and today we're sharing with you the Christmassy activities not to be missed! From baking to magical markets, we're sure December will be a month filled with family fun!

You could also be in the chance to win a family ticket for this year's biggest Christmas panto!

Ice Skating

First up, ice skating. What’s better than wrapping up all cosy and gliding elegantly along the ice, ok maybe not elegantly but we can try! The Eden Project ice rink is already running in full swing so why not head on down and join in with the madness? There’s plenty of ice skating sessions to choose from, whether it’s general skating sessions or if you fancy a lesson with a professional skater!

Late Night Shopping

A festive classic. Late night shopping although sometimes manic, can be a magical opportunity to feel Christmassy and have a ton of fun with friends and family. Buying presents doesn’t have to be stressful, make the most of the events by browsing stalls, be entertained by brass bands and feel welcomed by the scent of mulled wine. Truro’s late night shopping starts on the 25th of November until the 23rd, every Wednesday with the lead up to Christmas!

Bake A Gingerbread House

Baking is always a treat during the festive season and nothing beats a gingerbread house.  Whether it’s a personal challenge or a group effort, it’s probably the most fun you’ll have all year! Click here for a great Tesco recipe, including an easy template to make the perfect gingerbread this Christmas!

Christmas Markets

Christmas Markets are a wonderful family event to inject some Christmas spirit that little bit earlier. Padstow Christmas Festival runs between the 3rd to the 6th December and attracts more than 45,000 visitors a year! It’s no surprise that this market is filled with food, drink and arts and crafts stalls for everyone to enjoy. There’s even fireworks to end the night with a bang!

Snowball Fight

A snowball fight is something loved, no matter what the age. If snow doesn’t grace us with its presence this year, we can always head on down to Boscawen Street in Truro where snow is definitely on the cards. Organisers of Truro Festival say they are laying snow down on the 23rd of December and guess what? They’re promising enough to make snowballs! Click here to read more!

Join The Santa Fun Run

A fun and fantastic event to be a part of this year is the Santa Fun Run in support of Cornwall Hospice Care. This is a perfect time to bring the community together filled with silliness and laughter while Santas jiggle down the road! For all of the details click here!

Cosy Night In

Have a cosy night in filled with blankets, popcorn and your favourite Christmas classic. What’s your favourite; Elf, It’s A Wonderful Life, Home Alone? There’s plenty to choose from and it’s the perfect excuse to have a night in when you don’t want to face the cold!

He's Behind You!

Going to a Christmas pantomime is the perfect activity for the whole family to enjoy. This year, The Hall For Cornwall are featuring the spectacular show ‘Dick Wittington’ alongside stars Kernow King and Granville Saxton. And guess what! Pirate FM are giving away a FAMILY TICKET to watch the show! Just head on over to the Pirate FM website to enter!
