The National Maritime Museum, a spectacular building located beside the waterfront in Falmouth. A fully independent museum surrounded by its very own nautical heritage. The museum has a huge collection of small boats and rare antiques. With 15 galleries and over five floors to explore, it’s bound to be a fun filled afternoon for the entire family to enjoy.

The museum unlike many others is committed to a special mix of conservation, research, education and entertainment. A modern day museum filled with innovation and confidence, representing Cornwall and protecting the inspiring past and present that this community shares. Plenty to learn, the museum now holds ancient artefacts from national and international collections, rarely seen in other museum’s in Cornwall.

The museum shares thoughtful and heartfelt stories of the people whose hearts belong to the sea. The Vikings are now in town! the Viking Voyagers exhibition is in full swing and will be here until January 2017. So head on down and get a taste of the truth behind the Viking world, get up and close to rare antiques on loan from the British Museum, National Museum of Ireland, National Museum of Denmark and Manx National Heritage. You’ll even get a chance to get on board a 14 metre full scale replica cargo ship!

Founded in 1818, The Royal Cornwall Museum located in Truro is an established museum and has been collecting for nearly 200 years. Discover all sorts of treasures, from prehistoric Cornwall to Ancient Egypt, Rome and Greece. Get stuck into interactive exhibitions and enjoy tons of hands on fun.

With the massive collection, the museum has been donated an amazing array of objects, including an amazing unwrapped mummy not to be missed! Fine arts and world cultures can be seen throughout the walls of the museum and you’ll be able to get close to Greek and Roman objects. It’s a fabulous location to top up your knowledge; Royal Cornwall Museum welcomes schools, families and adults alike to join in with events, workshops or a simple browse around! Children can visit for free and adults can pay £4.50 once then get in free all year.

Helston Museum


A treasure trove of memories and curiosities!

Helston Museum is one of the largest folk museums in the South West, you can get up close with a huge collection of exhibitions arranged in a cosy two floor building. Upon arrival you will be greeted by a cannon from the HMS Anson - obviously protecting this wonderful museum! Run by the South Kerrier Heritage Trust, it’s free entry and is beaming with fascinating displays.

Be inspired and top up your knowledge of the history and architecture of Helston. The museum’s collection reflects both the social and industrial history of Lizard Peninsula, from mining, fishing, farming and home life.

Admire the fine mezzanine gallery, this is used on a regular basis to welcome everyone to take part in workshops and attend art exhibitions. Before you head off, be sure to check out the museum’s shop, you’ll find all sorts of treasures from local books to gemstones!

Museum Of Witchcraft and Magic

An extremely loved gem within Cornwall. The Museum of Witchcraft and Magic is home to the world’s largest collection of witchcraft related artefacts and regalia. Filled with unusual, sometimes controversial objects and plenty of history. It will be an afternoon spent unlike many you’ve had before…

After being hit by the worst floods in British history in 2004, the precious collection managed to survive. The museum team alongside volunteers ensured the museum was restored, bouncing back better than ever with the reopening a year later.

If it’s something a little bit out of the ordinary, this spooky building could be the perfect day out to add a little enchantment into your day.
