What’s On In Cornwall This Weekend

There’s loads of events happening across the weekend.

It’s time to get those diaries out and get planning – from markets, open mic poetry to music beside the sea, you will be spoilt for choice!

Let’s dive in and find out what you have to look forward to…

Brunch and Local Produce Market

This Saturday visit the Carpenters Arms in Metherell and also the Tamar Grow Local for a day of fun and great food.

From 11am you can experience the popular Produce Market, and attend this community event. It is a great chance to get together and have some goodies. Brunch will be served from 11am – 2pm, including a whole range of tasty treats including: homemade cakes, Rob’s homemade sausages, artisan bread, meat, fish, jam, flowers and so much more.

Liskeard Poets and Poetry Open Mic

Liskeard poets meet monthly to practise their poetry skills. They are popular within Cornwall and have performed at many events such as festivals including the Port Eliot and Looe Literary.

This is your chance to bring along your poems to share at the Open Mic. There will also be a great chance to see a classical music performance. It’s free entry and refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon.

Pendennis Needs You!

This event is perfect for a family weekend. It is time to step back in time of the Second World War, be put to the test and be commanded by the Drill Sergeant. So what are you waiting for? Sign up today for the training camp and see if you can make it through the obstacle course.

Book Making Workshop

Head to St Ives this weekend for a creative day of book making. This workshop is ran by Nina Fenner on Saturday, costing £30.

Located at the St Ives Arts Club, this is a location for visual and performing artists and anybody with a keen interest in the arts. With sea views, you will find this experience a relaxing one. The club was used as a social venue, for artists to come together and paint, which still remains the case today.

The venue is now used for many art events, performances and even comedy nights.

Cornish Dance Workshop with Carmen Hunt

This weekend you could improve your Cornish dancing. With the lead up to MayFest, taking place on 14th May 2016 you can prepare for the big day with workshops.

Held at the Town Hall, this free dance workshop is a great way to meet people and have a lovely morning learning Cornish moves. You won’t need a partner, simply turn up and enjoy great music and learn Cornish dances.

Helston Farmer’s Market

This Saturday head on down to Helston’s Farmer’s Market, held on the first Saturday of the month at the Old Cattle Market.

The event will start at 9:30am where you can browse the local produce available, direct from growers and producers. Look out for locally made beer, chocolate, break, cakes, vegetables, cheese, meats and so much more.

The Cornwall Spring Flower Show

This weekend you can experience the best Cornish horticulture and celebrating spring. Organised by Cornwall Garden Society, be blown away by the beautiful displays of camellias, daffofils, rhododendrons and ornamental shrubs. Be surrounded by stunning colours, and don’t forget to bring your camera to capture the beauty.
